Kim Warwick

Born on 8th of April 1952 Australian Tennis player Kim Warwick is another proud feather in the cap of tennis Australia. He played professional tennis for 17 years from 1970 to 1987. He was the number one Australian Junior in 1970. Same year he turned professional and continued to play at international level until his retirement in 1987. He won 3 singles and 26 doubles titles. He reached the career high ranking of 15th in Singles in 1980. Same year, in which he lost to Teacher in his only appearance in the final of Australian Open, this was to remain his only, singles final appearance in a grand slam. However, He won four men’s doubles and two mix doubles grand slam titles.

After starting as a professional Tennis player he won the French Open mix doubles title within a couple of years in 1972, he was partnering Evonne Goolagong Cawley. He also won 4 grand slam titles. Three in Australian open and 1 in French Open when he won it with his long time friend and Partner Edmondson, before that he won 3 Australian Open men’s double titles in 1978, 1980 and third in 1981.  He reached the career high ranking of number 10 in 1985. He won a total of 26 doubles titles and won a total of $994,045 in his career as a professional tennis player, both in singles and doubles combined. He was a stylish right-hander and had a single fisted backhand. He runs his own tennis academy and commands a huge amount of respect in Australian Tennis.
