The era of 1969-1960 produced mixed results in the Wimbledon, when not one player could manage to hold the title for long. Famous female tennis playerBillie Jean King from United States won the title 3 times along with Maria bueno from Brazil who won the title twice and stood runner-up twice as well.

Billie Jean King was the most dynamic and prolific winner at the women’s singles Wimbledon championship. She not only played Wimbledon but contributed a lot to the development of tennis. Between 1966 and 1975, Billie dominated Wimbledon with her impeccable game. She reached eight women’s singles finals and won six of them. The opponent whom she defeated twice is Goolagong, first in 1972 and then 1975. Billie Jeans defeated Maria Bueno in 1966, Ann Jones in 1967 and Judy Tegart in 1968. She has two losses in the following years, to Mrs. Jones in 1969 and Margaret Court in 1970. The 1970 Wimbledon was a classic in which Margaret staggered off a 14-12, 11-9 winner against Jean and is a record for the most games in a Wimbledon women’s final ever.
