However out of these names, one of the greatest tennis players was Roy Emerson who showed his fantastic capability to play on clay court and won many French Open Championships. Roy Emerson won 2 single French Open titles and 6 doubles French Open titles in his tennis career. His overall Grand Slams titles are 12 which shows his exquisite tennis skills. Rod Laver, Australia’s greatest tennis player, won 11 Grand Slams out of which 2 were French Open titles. Ken Rosewall with 12 grand slams in his career, won two French Open titles in the 60’s.

The other two came in the 80’s era, completing the 6 titles for Bjorn. Bjorn won the French Open titles for four consecutive years while winning the Wimbledon championship along as well. The era of 1989-1980 in French Open tennis tournaments has been an alternative win pattern which was shared by two famous male tennis players, Ivan Lendl and Mats Wilander. Maximum French Open Championships were claimed by these two tennis players during this decade. Lendl and Wilander faced each other several times in the finals as well. Lendl and Wilander won the same number of French Open Grand Slams (4) in their tennis careers and were considered great rivals of the 80’s. Michael Chang, the youngest tennis player ever to have won the grand slam also claimed the French Open title.
