Neale Fraser

Neale Andrew Fraser, An Australian tennis star was born on October 3rd, 1933 in Melbourne, Victoria. He had an iconic record throughout his tennis career and his charismatic appearance in the court holds the breath of his diehard fans. His passion for tennis was inborn and he started practicing tennis at the age of 11 and soon became the captain of his school tennis team.

He started his professional tennis career in mid 1950’s and soon made incredible records through hard work, determination and passion. He is ranked no.1 for singles and doubles titles and in his tennis career he won Singles Grand Slams in Wimbledon in 1960 and U.S open in 1959 and the same title again in 1960. Fraser was unbeatable in Doubles Grand Slams and won all without any failure. He won doubles Grand Slams in Australian Open in (1957, 1958 and 1962), French Open in (1958, 1960 and 1962), Wimbledon in (1959 and 1961) and U.S Open in (1957, 1959 and 1960).

Fraser’s Grand Slam Mixed Doubles is still a delight and won all 5 titles that he played. In U.S open he won titles continuously for three years (1958, 1959 and 1960), he was remarkable and won titles at Australian Open in 1956 and Wimbledon in 1962.

He took retirement in 1963 but continued with his strength and passion and became a Captain of Davis Cup team in 1970 and continued with his winning power and won 4 Davis Cups for his country. With his over whelming performances he was elected in International Tennis Hall of Fame and in 1984 and was honored with a MBE (1974) and an AO (1988).

He is still active with his spirit of proving himself with every passing moment and founded his own Neale Fraser Foundation for facilities and player development in tennis field. He aimed for his academy to kill the upcoming drought of the tennis court and to provide young talents with every possible facility and training. Victoria can never forget his hardship for his country, thus in 1974, he was voted for the Victorian father of the year.
