Popular Tennis Player Nancy Richey
Born on the 23rd of August, 1942 at San Angelo, Texas, Nancy Richey is a professional tennis player from the United States. She got married to Kenneth Gunter in the year 1970 but, got divorced after seven years in 1976. Her brother is also a famous tennis player named as Cliff Richey. She was destined to become a successful player with competing and admirable composure and with deep pride over the years. She initially played with her brother Cliff who shared insatiable feelings for her sister and they became the first team of brother and sister to touch the skies of American tennis.
Nancy Richey’s career peak was when she won two titles of the Grand Slam singles tournament. These tournaments include the Australian championships held in 1967 and the French Open held in1968. She also holds the title of winning the doubles titles of the Grand Slam tournament four times which includes the U.S Championships held in 1965, the Australian championships held in 1966, U.S Championships and the Wimbledon Championships. In the year 1969, Nancy was also ranked to be the second best player among the world players. In her entire career she won about 69 singles titles. She also greatly helped the U.S in the year 1969 to win the Federation Cup. She holds the record of winning the U.S Women’s Clay Court Championships six times in a row from the year 1963 to 1968. Nancy Richey was inducted as a tennis player in the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the year 2003.
