Grand Slams

Tennis is a sport which is played all over the world for the entire year in many different tournaments but Grand Slams are events where the best tennis is played and all the master players come under one roof to fight for one of the world’s best tournaments. In modern day tennis, there are four grand slam events that occur in a year. If we look at them in the chronological order, first is the Australian Open that takes place at the beginning of the year. Then comes the French Open, in the mid of June there is Wimbledon and the US Open finishes the Grand Slam year.
The Australian Open is played in Melbourne and is named after the Australian legend Rod Laver, and is known as the Rod Laver Arena. The surface used in the Australian Open is hard court.
The French Open takes place in Roland Garros arena in Paris, France. The French Open is the only Grand Slam played on a clay court surface and it is the Grand Slam where major upsets in the game are expected.
Wimbledon takes place in London, United Kingdom and it is a grass court surface and it is known to be the most prestigious Grand Slam of the year where every player tries hard to win the tournament.
The U.S. Open is the last grand slam tournament of the year that is played in New York, United States. The arena of this tournament is known as Arthur Ash Stadium. This tournament ends the year for the Grand Slam tournaments.
