Philip Dent was born on the 14th of February in the year 1950. The place of birth of the former tennis player is Sydney, Australia. The player was about to reach the highest pro singles of his career in the final match of the Australian Open tournament when he lost the match to Jimmy Connors by four sets. Prior to adopting a professional career, Phil Dent became the champion of the Boy’s Singles game in both the French Open and Australian Open Tournament in 1968.after his retirement, his son, Taylor Dent also took part in tennis as a professional player and has won many tournaments as well.

Dent has achieved the championship of Men’s Doubles when teamed up with John Alexander in the Australian Open tournament held in 1975. He also has the title to win Mixed Doubles in 1976 at US Open with his partner Billie Jean King. Phil Dent was the finalist of doubles in 1970, 1973 and 1977 in addition to becoming the finalist of French Open in the years 1975, 1979. Dent also defeated the famous player Bjorn Borg in the Australian Open Tournament in the year 1974 and this was the first time when Borg came to Australia to play the tournament.  His career top singles in the year 1978 where he was awarded as the 19th best tennis player. Moreover, he achieved no. 51 in doubles in 1983. In his entire career, he won 3 titles of singles and 24 titles of doubles. Phil Dent retired as a professional player and is now settled in California.
