Famous male tennis player: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is a French professional tennis player who is currently ranked at 17th in the ATP rankings. Tsonga came into the picture when he reached the finals of the 2008 Australian Open where he defeated four top seeded players along the way. His win over the then world number one, another French tennis player Rafael Nadal in straight sets is very famous. Tsonga was finally defeated by the then number three, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic in four sets after winning the first set. This was the only set lost by Djokovic in his 2008 Australian Open. Tsonga won his first Masters title in Paris Masters 2008 and qualified for the Tennis Masters Cup in 2008. He is the only player after Gustavo Kuerten to attend his first ATP finals debut at the Grand Slam event.

Tsonga is more famous for his powerful and precise services and more powerful foreheads. His backhand shots down the line have become one of the bestback hand shots in tennis. Tsonga generally plays the game of offensive baseline player and is also good at the nets. He is one of the very few players in tennis who uses the serve and volley kind of play. The only player who has played this in recent times is American tennis player, Andy Roddick. All these techniques make him a faster surface player such as grass and hard courts. But, all and all, he is an all surface player as he is improving his techniques on the clay courts.
