Petra Kvitova

Born on 8th of March 1990, in Bilovic Czechoslovakia, Petra Kvitova has won 9 singles titles in her career so far and is known for her powerful shots of the left hand. She reached the highest ranking of her career at No 2 on 31st October 2011 and is currently ranked as World’s No 8. Kvitova has won the Wimbledon Championship and the WTA Tour Championship singles titles in 2011 and is the first event winner of the Grand Slam to be born in the 1990’s. She is also noted as the third player to have won the WTA Championship in their first attempts. She was the semi finalist of the Wimbledon 2010 and 2012 Australian and French Open tournaments.

Kvitova started her professional career in 2006, however her game began to be noticed in 2008 when she made an upset by defeating Anabel Medina Garrigues at France and succeeding over Former World’s No.1 Venus Williams at Memphis. Kvitova was placed in the top 50 list for the first time in 2008 when she advanced to the Zurich Open quarter finals as a qualifier. Kvitova won her first career title in 2009 which was the 2009 Moorilla Hobart International. In 2011 she got her next title at Brisbane international and secured World’s No.28 position. This was just the starting as she moved on forward to secure many more victories which eventually led her to her career’s highest rank at No 2. Kvitova showed full potential and was thought to secure World’s No.1 position in 2012 however viewing her current stats she may just reach the point in the year to come.
