The era of 1989-1980 in French Open tennis tournaments has been an alternative win pattern which was shared by two famous male tennis players, Ivan Lendl and Mats Wilander. Maximum French Open Championships were claimed by these two tennis players during this decade. Lendl and Wilander faced each other several times in the finals as well. Lendl and Wilander won the same number of French Open Grand Slams (4) in their tennis careers and were considered great rivals of the 80’s. Michael Chang, the youngest tennis player ever to have won the grand slam also claimed the French Open title.

The era of 1999-1990 in men’s French Open tennis tournaments hasn’t been dominated by one player but many best tennis players claimed the French Open trophy. Playing at clay hasn’t been very easy for every player which definitely highlights Sampras who failed at winning a single title in his glorious tennis career. The era of 90’s couldn’t produce any king of clay like Bjorn Borg who bagged 6 French Open titles and held on to this record till Nadal took over the clay court and equalled 6 French Open Grand Slam record.

Roger Federer won his 15th Grand Slam by winning the French Open title 2009 after defeating Robin Soderling again.

The great rivals Federer and Nadal played against each other where Nadal won the title of 2008 French Open.

Year 2007-French Open Tennis winner and runner-up

The rivalry continued for Federer and Nadal and Nadal being the clay King owned another French Open title.

The rivalry started from here between Nadal and Federer and continued for several years till now. Nadal won the year 2006 French Open after defeating Roger Federer.
