Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi is a Pakistani tennis player who started his professional career in 1998. He is a right-handed player with a single-handed backhand. The player is at his best on grass courts. His playing style is serve-and-volley.
The 6 ft. tall player has played two Grand Slams till now. At 2007 Wimbledon, he was knocked out in the 2nd round, whereas at 2008 US Open, in the 1st round. In men’s doubles, he is among the top 50 players. He has claimed one title so far and has the highest ranking of 42. So far he has played 5 Grand Slam doubles. He played in Australian Open and French Open in 2010 and in US Open in 2002. He played in Wimbledon doubles in 2002 and 2009.
Aisam has been a successful player as a junior too. He finished no. 7 in 1998 and that made him the highest ranked Pakistani player in the international youth tennis arena.
He won the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award in 2002 because he played like a real champion with the Israeli Amir Hadad, even though they were under a lot of pressure by the governments.
Aisam has always been good in representing his country. He captained Pakistan’s Davis Cup team. He has won the most Davis Cup singles and doubles matches in the history of Pakistan. He is also the only Pakistani to become a member of the “Champions for Peace” club, a club with 40 elite athletes who promote peace through sports.
